Fluency, made incomprehensible

I really enjoyed this track. It has enough rhythm to keep itself together yet it retains an incredibly lurid feel. I especially enjoyed when the voices start (is that a 911 call?) at 0:31 and end with the screaming. It's quite a juxtaposition as the rest of the track doesn't really have any kind of dark or scary quality to it. Very interesting stuff

Nice work here

Thanks man :) and yeah its a 911 call.

appreciate it :)

Eh...

It's an interesting start, but it feels very barebones. You really need some kind of harmonic sound here, find a decent pad to start working with.

You have a decent melody but try making some FX automations for it (filter, phaser, delay... pick one and add some flavor). Drums are pretty OK for techno, add some compressor for a bit more punch.

CUBE21 responds:

Oh, it is. I haven't started working with all the details yet. Lol so far its just the basic samples and beats. Hopefully my stuff will sound better as I learn to use all that. Thanks for the advice!

Nice!

I absolutely love the little break from 0:35 to 0:45. Nice work!

thanks a bunch- sometimes you have to shake things up a little bit to keep it interesting.

Happy you liked!

Hmmm...

Not sure if NG is the best platform for selling your beats, but I could be wrong...

Nice beat though, sounds very well produced. The tag is pretty annoying though.

Blasphem-E responds:

No, I don't actually sell the beats on NG, I sell them on soundclick. Anything put on Newgrounds is under creative commons licensing. So by uploading here, I let people use whatever beat I've uploaded here. Hence the tag, it allows people to use the tagged beat for free, yet if somebody wants the untagged version, they still have to buy it from my site.

Thanks though

Ah the good old days...

Reminds me of playing Kirby's Dream Land and the original green screen gameboy. Lots of running and a bit of dying... Sorry I don't have much more critique, I have no idea how to make a good 8bit track.

Nice work

Kirby's Dreamland was my childhood right there. : )
Good times, my friend. A Simpler time, when men were men and fought evil penguins inside mountaintop castles.

Ahhh...

Glitchy, maniacal, insane beats... Cut, copy and paste piano loop (not describing your actual technique, just the sound of the result) followed by strange voice and then mad laughter. I think I have a boner...

Quarl responds:

i also have a boner.

Wow

From the start to 0:44 is so strange. I can hear something familiar, then at 0:45 that ever so recognizable melody starts. Well done, I just wish it were longer

ShatterTheSky22 responds:

Yeah, the start is all original; it's based more on the vibe I got from the song with a few trace elements (because the version I used as a reference was not an instrumental, only choir) so I had a few more things to work with.
I would have made it longer but I honestly would not have known where to go with it, so I thought instead to turn it into a loop that maybe someone can use as like menu music for some Christmas-themed flash.

Thank you so much for the review and vote!

Epic

It's little slow (to me, at least) up until the 8:00 mark (although I did really enjoy all the crazy percussive sounds) and then the voices start, then the whales start, and then there's that haunting pseudo-melody... Beautiful. Then I hear football commentary with a spooky harmony under it? Genius...

theDC responds:

Thanks for the review! Glad you liked it.

The football commentary is actually an announcer at a David Blane stunt, where Blane is attempting to break the record for holding his breath underwater. (He failed.)

Nice

That is a very cool little arpeggiated synth you have goin there. Everything sounds pretty good albeit slightly repetitive. My favorite part has got to be the very beginning with that sweet splash of sound before the cool arpeggiated synth pops up.

Vultyrex responds:

I feared that it sounded repetitive, however, there's lyrics for the song in which once heard, you wouldn't think it to be repetitive. Thanks for the review!

Don't give up

Got a nice start here, just wish there was more. This is like a dubstep cock-tease

kabloozie responds:

yeah, maybe i'll make a song out of this little thingy tomorrow.....

im just one of those stubborn dummies that refuses to learn any way other than teaching myself. And that process is really slow, i get discouraged easily...

thanks for the encouragement.
